Reproduction related decisions in winter breeding frogs

Location

Sirsi, Karnataka

Reproduction is an energetically costly event for an animal. There is a strong selection pressure on breeders to time their reproduction such that it overlaps with a peak in the availability of energy supply, i.e. food resources, for themselves as well as their offspring. Yet, many animals breed in winters when resources are scarce. Our lab is interested in understanding how reproduction related decisions are impacted by the changing temperatures due to the important role of temperature in the shaping timing of breeding in many taxa.
